The Poetry Foundation named the first Children’s Poet Laureate this week, the funny and smart Jack Prelutsky. Now is a perfect time to read all of his books. Read them loudly, read them quietly, read them to a kid, read them to yourself. You’ll enjoy it, promise!

Here’s a favorite to get you started: Deep in Our Refrigerator.

As we prepare for construction of the Information Library and Learning Center (IL2C), the former Science Library has been converted to a Library Annex. The facility is closed to the public until 2007 while we install new flooring and compact shelving to increase growth space for all UW Libraries collections.

Don’t fret that the Science Library is “closed” — you can still access all our science resources! Current science periodicals, the science reference collection, theses, microfilm, and most Science Library personnel have been permanently relocated to Coe Library. Remaining Science Library materials still housed in the Library Annex, such as bound journals and books, will be available via remote retrieval while the facility is closed. Patrons can request these materials via the UW Libraries website, email, or in person at the Coe Library circulation desk.

We apologize for any inconvenience this project will cause. Although we must keep the facility closed during its conversion to compact shelving, we are committed to providing timely access to any materials you request.
