Library Annex Hours:
August saw two Coe Library veterans retire, Lois Berry and Lloyd Hashimoto. A big thank you to Lois and Lloyd for their service, and a thank you to the musical entertainment at their retirement parties, Matt, the Cupcake and the Sprinkles!
Lois left the UW Libraries after 35 years of service. A recent winner of the Outstanding Service Award and all around awesome worker, we will miss her!

Lois Berry wins Outstanding Service Award.

Lois listens to the sweet sounds of “Catalogerville”.
Lloyd Hashimoto offered 36 years of excellent service to the UW Libraries. We will miss his hard work and his great stories!

Lloyd enjoys his spoof song “Crazy Little Thing Called Lloyd”.

Lloyd and his dislike of squirrels get the spoof treatment.
This week marks the 50 anniversary of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road.
Written in three weeks on a single roll of paper, the beat classic has received retrospective treatment all over the web.
I remember reading On the Road in high school as a sort of rite of passage, but it never really resonated with me. When did you read it? And what do you remember about it?
I could not resist another literary quiz during these long quiet August days at the library. Of course, I may have been less likely to post it if I did not get a pleasing result. What character are you?
