Which is your favorite color? I prefer brown myself, but real gold certainly has its charms.

Don’t Forget – Friday, August 31st is National College Colors Day!

Tomorrow is National College Colors Day. Support the Pokes by encouragaing your co-workers to wear UW Cowboy colors to work. Host a staff appreciation tailgating event to get your crew excited for the College Football Season and the cowboy’s home opener vs. Virginia! Or just tell every Pokes fan you see to sport their team colors this Friday. We’re counting on you to show your Cowboy spirit in celebration of this national event!

August saw two Coe Library veterans retire, Lois Berry and Lloyd Hashimoto. A big thank you to Lois and Lloyd for their service, and a thank you to the musical entertainment at their retirement parties, Matt, the Cupcake and the Sprinkles!

Lois left the UW Libraries after 35 years of service. A recent winner of the Outstanding Service Award and all around awesome worker, we will miss her!

This week marks the 50 anniversary of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road. on_the_road.JPG

Written in three weeks on a single roll of paper, the beat classic has received retrospective treatment all over the web.

I remember reading On the Road in high school as a sort of rite of passage, but it never really resonated with me. When did you read it? And what do you remember about it?

I could not resist another literary quiz during these long quiet August days at the library. Of course, I may have been less likely to post it if I did not get a pleasing result. What character are you?

I am Elizabeth Bennet! Take the Quiz here!
