Prospector is going on holiday very soon, but take solace, as we can still get the books, articles, and films that you need via our Request It service.

The University of Wyoming Libraries will suspend borrowing through Prospector, from June 8, 2009 to August 4, 2009 while we replace our automated library system. Outstanding Prospector holds will be canceled as of June 16, 2009 but may be re-requested through Prospector starting August 4, 2009.

During the Prospector suspension, UW faculty, staff and students are encouraged to request materials through the Libraries’ Request It Service.

The libraries will reduce hours over the holiday weekend.  Enjoy the long weekend and the warm weather!

Saturday May 23rd: Coe Library open noon – 4 p.m., all others closed.

Sunday-Monday May 24th-25th: all branches closed.

Tuesday May 26th: resume normal summer hours.

Prospector fans, please place your Prospector orders prior to June 15th. The popular borrowing service from Colorado libraries will be out of service from June 15 – August 15, 2009 while the UW Libraries migrate to a brand-new catalog system.

This makes me blue, for sure, but know two things:
1) you can still order materials through Request It, which might take a smidge longer than Prospector deliveries but should meet your scholarly needs.
and
2) your new library catalog system will be sleeker and better!

Congratulations to all the students who participated in Undergraduate Research Day this weekend. All of the presentations will be available within the next few weeks on the UW Libraries’ digital collection.  We look forward to sharing the excellent presentations with the world…

Students are required to provide an electronic copy of their presentation or poster to the EPSCoR Office within two weeks after Research Day. The UW Libraries will provide a repository for electronic copies of the student presentations, and will make them available electronically through the UW Libraries Digital Initiative at http://digital.uwyo.edu/. You can see last year’s presentations and posters at http://uwlib5.uwyo.edu/omeka/collections/show/4.

Computer Lab on Level 2
In an interview in the Branding Iron, UW pitcher Kelly Helbig was asked what campus computer lab is his favorite for studying. His response: “New Coe Library. It’s so sick, it makes me want to go and study. Good job, UW.” Thanks Kelly!

[and thanks to alert reader Jennifer for the tip!]
