The Book & Bean Cafe
Coe Library welcomes you to enjoy food and drink in the library. In fact, our Book and Bean coffee shop just added Sunday hours (yay!) and will be adding new menu items this fall like fresh-baked cookies and soups! We do need to protect our book collection, so please keep drinks in spill-proof cups throughout the building and limit snacking to levels 1, 2, 3, and 5 of the new Coe Library addition.

Book and Bean hours, Fall semester 2009:

  • Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 3:00 -9:00 p.m.

Have you read a great book lately? Coe Library is hosting a “Read-In” as part of Summit 2009, the new orientation for first-year students at UW. We would love to share some personal recommendations from UW staff and faculty in special book display for the event. The book you suggest will be displayed with your name, department, and any personal remarks you share about why you loved it.

Read more about Summit here: http://www.uwyo.edu/summit/

If you have a book suggestion to share, you can comment on this post or send it to kcalkins@uwyo.edu. Thank you!

Just in time for the last days of summer, get your books, DVDs, CDs… let your imagination be your guide. One quick note: Prospector now requires you to enter your WyoOne username and password or your name (First and Last) and library barcode to make a request. Questions? Just ask us: 1-800-442-6757.

encoreUsers of the library catalog probably noticed something different this week as we unveiled our new, improved, extremely fancy library catalog at http://uwcatalog.uwyo.edu/ and the extra-fancy search at http://encore.uwyo.edu.

A few cool features of the new catalog:

  • Single search for  UW Libraries, the Law Library and American Heritage Center materials.
  • Fully integrated with Prospector so you will be able to request materials easily.
  • Spell-checking (“did you mean?”) and tag clouds.
  • Course Reserves remain the same but the bookmark has changed.
  • Request It service remains unchanged.

Have you played it with it yet? Do you like it better than the old catalog? Let us know of any issues or problems that you see!
