The UW Libraries made an important announcement today: starting with the 2010-11 school year, the libraries will maintain a completely digital presence. This goes beyond just digital books, says Dean Maggie Farrell. “We will be eliminating the print collection of books, yes. And other innovations will follow – soon you will be able to interact with digital cybrarian avatars who can answer your reference questions and help you with research.”
This move to an all digital staff and collection is projected to save the libraries approximately 7.2 million dollars.

Got me!
Can we pick our own avatars? This one looks a bit dowdy.
Happy April Fool’s Day!
Maggie, I have no doubt your avatar would be ultra-fashionable, with great shoes!
