The major new activity this week has been the erecting of the precast concrete shear walls that will form the stairwell around the staircase in the southeast part of the new addition to Coe Library.
Outside of Coe Library, work is continuing on the foundation walls for the new addition. Underground plumbing work has begun and will continue intermittently over the next few weeks. Starting next week, the pre-cast shear walls for the new south stairs will be installed.
Inside of Coe Library, on the 5th floor, the electrical and ductwork have been inspected and most of the new offices have been insulated and covered with drywall. The much anticipated renovation of the restrooms is continuing. The ceiling grid installation will begin on both the 4th and 5th floors beginning March 3. In addition, on the 4th floor, the two group study rooms are taking shape and some work has been done on the metal supports for the decorative ceiling treatment.
