University of Wyoming

Project Goals

Project Goals

  • Provide growth space for the expanding collection for the next twenty years and beyond. University Libraries annually add 25,000 print volumes.
  • Create an integrated learning center with modern student computing facilities by combining reference instruction with information technology assistance.
  • Create group study rooms and space for students and faculty to work together.
  • Foster a partnership with the Center for Teaching and Learning and the academic success center, LeaRN (Learning Resource Network), that will bring together referral and research services into a single building.
  • Increase student seating and study space to meet or exceed the guidelines for academic building standards. University Libraries are currently at less than 50% of the standard. We currently have 973 student seats and we should have a minimum of 2,000 seats.
  • Increase the capacity of the library classrooms for instruction and videoconferencing.
  • Move the Wyoming Hebard Collection into the Coe Library, thus improving access to information resources for Wyoming.
  • Remodel the existing structure for code and ADA compliance.
  • Remodel the Science Library into a The Library Annex, a storage facility for materials that are duplicated in electronic format or lesser used materials such as government publications and older journals.
